Seymour Duncan APH-2s Slash Signature Humbucker Set - Zebra

When Slash was presented with the opportunity to have his own Gibson Les Paul Signature model crafted, we provided the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he had relied on for many years. However, upon testing the new guitars, it became clear that they produced a sound that was quite different from what Slash had originally experienced. Faced with this challenge, we set out to design a new pickup that would allow Slash's latest signature guitars to faithfully replicate the iconic tone of the original “Appetite for Destruction” Les Paul. This endeavor resulted in the creation of the Slash Signature Model humbucker.

To achieve this, we utilized a distinctive magnet wire and winding specification. When paired with the alnico 2 bar magnet, this combination was precisely what we needed to enhance the tonal qualities of a standard Les Paul. It successfully delivered the sustain, crunch, and midrange warmth that characterized the sound of Slash's original Derrig Les Paul copy, which has become an emblematic representation of his musical style.

Every Slash humbucker set is meticulously hand-built in Santa Barbara, just as we did with his original pickups in the 1980s. This craftsmanship includes a nickel silver bottom plate featuring extended mounting legs, single conductor braided lead wire, a maple spacer, and paper tape, all of which are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
